भारतीय विश्वविद्यालयों एवं महाविद्यालयों में असिस्टेंट प्रोफेसर एवं जूनियर रिसर्च फेलोशिप के उम्मीदवारों की योग्यता की जांच के लिए विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोग (यूजीसी) द्वारा साल में दो बार राष्ट्रीय पात्रता परीक्षा (नेट) का आयोजन किया जाता है। यह परीक्षा राष्ट्रीय परीक्षण एजेंसी (एनटीए) द्वारा संपन्न करायी जाती है।
